I have an old water heater that is leaking around the top at the anode rod. I’m wondering if anyone had had this problem and replaced the rod? I’m going to try to take it out this weekend.

I’m hoping a new rod will fix the problem and the treads on the top of the tank are fine. Maybe it’s finally time to go for a tankless.

I’ve replaced two of them. One not for leaking, but for stinky water. I have a well, when the sulphur wears off the water starts stinking. I tried the $30 dollar one without sulphur that lasted not even two weeks and the water started stinking. Got the $90 one for stinky water and problem solved.

I don’t know why I didn’t just buy the more expensive one from the get go.
