What’s the latest anyone has transplanted peppers? I have a cayenne and jalapeño in one pot that could probably do better if in the raised bed but they are already 1 and 2 ft tall and throwing peppers. Too late?

Leave them. All you’ll do is stress the roots if you pull them out.

The heat did a number on my pepper plants. But since it’s been a tad cooler (I use that word loosely), they’re starting to bounce back. I might prune them down and see if they make me a late season crop. The cayenne peppers are already starting to load up again.

Also, lots of my lettuce and cabbage seeds have sprouted. Hopefully in about 6 weeks I’ll have plenty to transplant.

That looks like a fungus. On a more mature tree wouldn’t be an issue, but that’s a young tree

Damage is done. Tree may make it though. I’d take off the damaged leaves and throw away

Has anyone had a tomato plant grow from left behind roots in a seed tray?

I had 4 plants that I transplanted from the tray to pots and now it looks like another plant is growing out from the same hole. I didn’t know if this was a common occurrence or not.

Was there multiple seeds in the same cup? And the second one wasn't allowed to germinate until the plant was removed.

I’m 99% sure I did one seed per cup. I did it that way the first round with everything (tomato, broccoli and cauliflower). I went 4/4 on the tomato, about 50% on cauliflower, and 25% on broccoli.

How is everyone's fall garden coming along?

I've been fighting bacterial spot on my tomatoes. I'll kill it off for a couple weeks, then it comes back. Getting pretty annoying, but I've got a few small tomatoes growing.

Also fighting aphids like hell on my cucumbers. I'm about to pull them and re-plant just to try to get a crop in before it gets cold.

Broccoli, peppers, and cauliflower are all doing great. I'm about to plant another round of cauliflower, kale, and carrots.

My cucumbers ended up producing more than I expected so I luckily ended up with quite a few jars of pickles. Picked quite a few dragon cayennes and red chilies to dry out in a dehydrator and crush up for season. Damn, it's incredibly spicy. Ended up with about half a cup after crushing them up. This is going to last forever.

You started broccoli/cauliflower?

I figured it was still too hot to put in the ground so they have been chilling in my seed tray under light.

I haven't started carrots either but might try a row next week.

I have absolutely zero luck getting lettuce to sprout in the seed tray. I have no clue if I got a bad batch or what but I've tried 3 times so far with zero germination. I figured by now I should have at least gotten luck with one.

So my broccoli and cauliflower are doing good. A few lettuce heads have survived surprisingly. My tomato plants are about 2 feet tall and look healthy. My cuces are growing nicely and should start producing flowers soon. Going to plant my onion and shallots sets in a month. Garlic will plant in November

What kind of garlic do you plant? I plan on adding that, onion, and carrots once it cools down.

I planted 5 broccoli plants that I picked up from the feed store about a month ago just to see if they’d make it through the heat. They’re doing great so far. Same with a couple cauliflower plants. Varieties are Arcadia and Snow Crown. I won’t be planting anymore broccoli, but I have a bunch of cauliflower seed starts that I hope to get into the ground this week.

The heat allowed my tomatoes to grow pretty quickly. Need some more sub 90 degree days though. They’re flowering like crazy. I have a handful of small tomatoes growing already.

Was trying to wait till the day time temps got below 90 to transplant my lettuce and cabbage. Over the weekend when I looked at the forecast, I saw all upper 80’s for the next 2 weeks. So I decided to put the lettuce and cabbage in the ground. They were getting too big for the peat cups and keeping them watered was becoming an issue. The forecast has since changed and now showing some warmer weather. They seem to be doing well so far. So, that’s good. Hopefully that continues.

I also sowed a row of carrots. So far so good. Lots of sprouts. Just have to keep them well watered. Eventually I’ll have to thin them. Had a good germination rate for those.

ETA: I’ll have to try to take some pictures this afternoon. I think this is the healthiest my garden has looked all year.
