The "New" tag on posts

I'm sure it's been asked a few hundred times but I also pretty much never frequent this board so i apologize in advance and accept all forms of belitting coming my way.
The purple tag stating "new" for posts, why can't that tag remain on all posts a person hasn't clicked on? It seems like that would be a more efficient tool to know which threads have had new posts added to it since you last visited, like some other message boards would do.
If I go to the OT and see all of page 1 is labeled "New"...nevermind that new posts on page 2 are not labeled "new", the moment I click on one thread and go back to the OT, there are no more "new" labels, which seems to defeat the purpose IMO.
Also, if i read a thread that ends on page 2, then i come back hours later and it's on page 5, it would be nice to be able to click and be taken right to the first new post in the thread since I last visited it.

"New" tags don't bring in revenue. Chicken is trying to run a business, not cater to your wants and needs baw.
fwiw i agree, I end up having to open a new tab for every "new" thread I find interesting so I don't forget.

My process when i first go to the MSB, look at all threads on page 1, and click on each i'm interested in but all in a new tab, so I usually open 4 or 5 tabs at once. Answer each, close tab. Refresh original MSB tab. Not exactly an efficient way of doing it.
I added this to my OP, but in addition, if i read a thread that ends on page 2, then i come back hours later and it's on page 5, it would be nice to be able to click and be taken right to the first new post in the thread since I last visited it.
Let's do this, someone wake Chicken up!!!
