Political Talk - Spam/Misinformation

Chicken and or Poliboard admins, I know this is going to seem like fixing something that is not necessarily broken so feel free to disregard. Every so often we see a spam attack on the political talk board that are obviously, they may spam with a board and make 10+ threads. I haven't seen TD install any antispam measures like captcha on thread starting, but generally these attacks are picked up very quickly by admins and I would see the general user spots that and dismisses threads by the spamming account.
My question lies in the more subtle spamming attacks we get that maybe harder to spot based on volume of posts. We see posts that link very suspect fake news websites which could be questionable whether its spam or the poster genuinely thinks this is legitimate. Have we put in place measures to try to limit purposeful misinformation by bad actors?
It is weird that some of the stuff that shows up here at points seem to be outside forces trying to spread misinformation, maybe not targeting TD specifically, but the internet in general and that gets picked up and brought here by users that may think it is legit, or bad actors. Are there IP reputation based blacklists for intentional misinformation that can be applied to posted links?

My understanding is that TD has gotten a lot better with the spam prevention.
There was a time about 2-3 years ago where accounts would be made that would spam 15+ threads in minutes.
no matter the board, even the help board.
Stuff like "Why lisa ann prefers having sex with nba players" and similar random crap.
Haven't seen that particular type of bot attack in a while.

I always liked those spams, the threads were always the most random combinations of things
"10 MLB players in prison for honeybuns"
