Is there a non-frowned upon way of conducting a poll?

Apparently my thread on the OT got anchored because we were using upvote/downvote count as a way of counting votes. So what's the acceptable way of doing this? Just counting one by one as people post their vote or is there a more efficient way of doing this?

Just use strawpoll.me like a normal person.

Edit: it’s working now. At first I was getting the red stop sign when I tried using it earlier so I thought maybe it was prohibited or something. I’ll use it going forward.

Just don’t reference the red and the green. It’s works itself out anyway.
