I am in the market for 2 laptops with built-in webcams and mic's. As I said in the thread about webcams, my wife wants Skype while I work. So what are some bang for my buck type laptops. Kind of looking to get 2 for $1700 or less. With Circuit City tanking would they be a place to look?

Thanks I was looking at a couple of HP's. I haven't searched Best Buy yet, I was drawn to CirCity. Thought they might be cheaper. I'll give BB a look.

A 13" macbook is only $999 but with only 1GB of Ram..

But it'll still out perform that HP, guarantee it. I have a Mac and HP and the HP stays in the case 99.99% of the time. I strongly believe in the saying, you get what you pay for.

Okay, well would you recommend the best buy credit card as well?

Is there anything that I would need for the macbook?
It's ready to go base model?

Was this the model you were recomending?

I beg to differ.I have a HP and i guarantee it will perform as well or better than that macbook. And if your not familiar with mac os than you have a slight learning curve. And as far as programs, well Microsuck has had the run on computers for quite a while. So you will be limited in what is available out there, although Mac popularity is gaining more and more each day, week or year.Just dont become one of those Mac elitist tyoes if you get one.Linux IMO beats both of the above.

I think both the Mac and HP points made above are good. I have both and have never had problems with either. Personally, I prefer the Mac but now you really don't need to make a choice regarding OS if you choose a MAC. You can load Windows onto MAC which gives you the best of both worlds, imo.
