Tell me about 5/3/1 BBB, thinking of trying it out

Coming to the end of a SL session to get back into lifting again and need something new.

Was going to move into Greyskull (love 777s write-up), but thought of trying BBB for 3 months to add some size.

I did 3 cycles of it and improved my maxes by about 20 to 30 pounds. I really liked it and will go back eventually.

I did the version with 5x10 deadlifts and squats same day ...

Month 3 was brutal. But I finished. Definitely got stronger.

Is that the T-Nation 3 month challenge? Was thinking of doing the regular and not that one.

How was the size gain? Looking for some hypertrophy with the strength increase.

yes thats the 3 month challenge on Tnation.

Its a great program. I believe the challenge is the best of the BBB templates. I believe Boring but strong is just as good or better also.

I highly recommend the template and in general feel the five best programs once you are no longer doing something like SL or Starting Strength are

-Greyskull

-5/3/1 (get the forever book, unlimited number of templates to run.)

-The dual factor bodybuilding routine i wrote about

- madcow

- reverse pyramid training

I would say DC training as I feel overall its the best BB program in exsistance, but 95% of people can not do it correctly for one reason or another, mostly last the ability to generate the required intensity.

Started 531 BBB today. After doing 5x5 for 6 months, that was a change with 5x10. Should be fun.

Read the ebook. Will be starting shortly along with sprints and footballish drills for cardio. Gives me an excuse to spend some time with the nephews.

I need to dust this program off again. I remember having really good results with it about a year ago, and I completely forgot about it.

Yes. Still week 1 of month 1. I hear month 3 is pretty dang killer. Just doing 10x5 at 50% training max has been a wake up call.

if you are doing the BBS challenge, be prepared to buy new shirts, your shoulders are going to grow like crazy.
