Can you do this? My kid fees got. The forehead gun thermometer says 98.8. I shot his underarm with it and it says 104.4. Any advice

You gotta stick it in his butt
In all seriousness if hes had a cool rag on his forehead or been in a cool room then the forehead temp wouldn't be accurate. Regardless 104 is really hot so I'd have some concern if it was my kid

If you are using an infrared thermometer designed to be used on the forehead it is not going to be accurate for underarm, aka armpit, also known as axillary temperature. If you have the manual or instructions for the thermometer I'd refer to them for the details, but generally speaking the kind of thermometer I think you are talking about is intended only for measurements on the head/forehead/scalp.
How old? I work adult ICU as a nurse, so I never work with small children, only occasionally an adolescent that's adult sized, but I think the ear canal thermometers are most accurate for young children/toddlers/babies.
