What have y’all done to combat this?
Recently got back into a running routine and like always the shin splints return. I’ve tried many different types of shoes and still get the same result.
Doing the usual right now of ice and ibuprofen but want to avoid shin splints if possible and/or find better treatment cause I can’t seem to prevent them.

I’ll bet your calves are perpetually tight, causing you to overwork those shin muscles. Stretch and roll the shite out of your calves and they’ll gradually calm down. I’d also start rolling and doing homemade Graston-type scraping of your shins.
-My favorite way to roll calves is rocking back and forth over a rumble roller while lying down watching TV. Then stretch
-A softer ball is good on the shins, like a racquetball. Just pressure/rock. Afterward, use some lotion or olive oil and scrape with a big wooden spoon.

In addition to foam rolling and stretching, try scraping...think it’s called the Grayson technique. Basically, sit on the ground and extend your legs in front of you and flex/hold your toes back, get a butter knife and use the handle end to scrape up and down on the shin area. The idea is it will break up the tissue in that area. It sounds odd, but I’ve been doing it and am finding it does work.

I posted similar advice, glad to hear it's also helped you. If you have one of the metal knife sharpeners that comes in a knife block, it also works very well.

Stretching calves should really help.
Also, what shoes have you tried?
