The meaning of life IMO is all of the groups we are part of and contribute positively. I’m like most people where I have a great friend & family inner circle but not necessarily gifted at extrovert skills in making new friends. Shared interests within H/F make it so much easier.

Realized I currently have more groups than ever. Including very different types of people that I wouldn’t normally interact with as often. These are my groups I spend a minimum of 5x/year with on average with demographics to help illustrate the point:

Pickup basketball - I’ll always miss the groups such as early 90s Red’s and late 90s LSU Rec (old man Henry!). Several others in Houston that eventually ran its course. Now it’s Saturday mornings once/month at Catholic Church in north Houston (20s to 60ish, White, Black, Hispanic). Other is Sunday nights once/month at rented indoor gym in The Woodlands organized by diverse group of doctors in 20s/30s (White, Black, Indian, Asian). Starting to play some at gym location near office that is mostly younger Black, Hispanic, Asian (Willowbrook area).

Volleyball Thurs nights once/month at Champions Forest Baptist - all ages but a lot of younger minorities, some gay men/women.

Pickleball - Open Play with larger group at gym once/month. Smaller group of about 8 that plays once/week indoors. Mostly more successful professionals since gym nicer Life Time in The Woodlands). Lot of Mexican and South Americans.

Disc Golf Saturday mornings once/month. Mostly guys in 50s including a couple of US Marshalls and a Navy Seal.

Golf sub for Baker Hughes Thurs afternoon 9 hole league about 5x/season. Partner is 60ish Hispanic former coworker and we play against scheduled two-some.

Gym with these sub-groups:
Early morning weekday weight room group. I go once/week and always same faces.

Sunday morning Strictly Strength is the one class my wife and I do together. Mostly same 20ish of all ages and races - 70% women. Top notch 40s Asian Instructor.

Ultra Fit regulars as there is relatively smaller group that does more intense sprinting and body weight stuff. I held 16 mph for the full 15 seconds recently!

Nothing wrong with that, we all get our groups from somewhere. I definitely enjoy working out at home from time to time.

Ditto. I don't consider working out part as part of my social life. Maybe when I am older that will change

Right now I am doing good to squeeze in an hour workout in my garage once I get home from work, and before I bring my kids to practice. Don't have time to talk to Jerry about how many hoes he slayed last weekend.
