I recently had a severe episode one month ago, and I was hospitalized for a few days. I currently still display symptoms and just recently my nystagmus (twitching of the eyes horizontally) went away. I haven’t been back in the gym since the episode. For those that suffer with it and go to the gym, how are you able to manage with it and what is the best way to ease back into working out again?

Which canal did you have a loose crystal in? My advice is find a PT who is trained in treatment of vertigo. There are maneuvers and exercises that can help manage your symptoms. Vertigo is usually triggered when your next extends (looking up, having your hair washed, etc). Somehow a crystal got displaced and wound up in one of the 3 canals in your inner ear.

Not sure really.

When it first happened, I honestly thought I was dying (15ish years ago). I went to the emergency room, told the doctor my symptoms, and the did the vertigo test on me and had to be caught by the nurses standing behind me. He gave me some prednisone to dry up any fluids in my ears, and then basically said I was most likely going to have this in spells for the rest of my life. I did, like clockwork when seasons changed for like 10 years. Then it went away, and the only time I get it is for brief moments if I tilt my head a certain way.

It's not such a big deal anymore...the effectiveness of it is minimal now. But yeah, doing declines is one of the activities that will trigger the hell out of it

I didn’t have any crystals. I had a viral form. No exercises seemed to help. MRI, CT, etc diagnostics were normal.
