I was checking my blood donations today to see when I could go back. I donated not long ago, but couldn’t remember when and wanted to make sure I met the 60 day recommendation. Anyway, they keep my total cholesterol levels. Starting in 2020: 236, 224, 211, 181, 175, and 154.

I started running in 2019. In 2023, I started moderately managing my diet. In 2025, I started actively managing towards a protein goal and fiber goal. This year, I’ve added a requirement for one serving of fermented foods per day.

I’m not on any medication outside of some otc supplements.

It's the ratio of HDL to LDL that matters more than the HDL number, which has a lot of focus, according to a number of sources. You're working out and managing your diet, so unless there is something hereditary, I'd stop worrying about it. For fermented, are you doing pickles, kimchi, or sauerkraut?

Nothing crazy: tumeric, fish oil, nattokinase, beet root.

Need a LDL number.

My chol was 212 when I had a MI and ended up with 5 bypasses. But my LDL was 125, which is bad.
