Thinking about trying it out. If I like it, how often can you safely do it?

I mean, obvious drawback is being hungry and blood sugar/fatigue issues from going two days without food.

Benefits: Find out if you're a tough guy or if you are soft.
Drawbacks: Might feel a little hungry.

48 hours would be way too short

Never done one, but this is what I've read. Once you get past the 48 mark, your body will adjust. Like anything else, everyone is different.

I've done fasts several times and FOR ME 48 hours would be way too short since that's about the time I get past the cravings.

This. 48 hours is still more in the calorie restriction / give your system a slight rest protocols. That supposedly is just when autophagy would start kicking in for any substantive effect.

Good way to get into ketosis though if you plan to go low carb after the fast (if you're into that sorta thing).
