What causes it specifically for you and your thing to avoid?

I’ve had it multiple times. Doctors will tell you to avoid nuts, popcorn, etc. they will also tell you that they don’t really know.

The one thing I can narrow mine down to is when I’m constipated or not having a normal poop schedule. I normally go in the morning every day. The times I’ve gotten it, I noticed before the symptoms started that it may have been 2 days since I had a BM. Since I’ve started taking Miralax, I haven’t had it again in over 2 years. I think being blocked up puts you at greater risk of something getting stuck in one of the pockets in your colon.

Hope this helps, as I know how brutal it is when you get infected. If I get it again, I’m going to have to have surgery.

I had 5-6 attacks before I had surgery, took out about 12 inches of my colon.I had IBS for years before surgery, went away afterwards so it was worth it.

It has been disproven that eating seeds, popcorn, etc has anything to do with causing attacks.

May not help but can’t hurt to try:

Avoid Nuts and seeds as they can get stuck and cause inflammation.

Think tomatoes, cucumbers, popcorn .. with the first two, remove the seeds and things should be fine.

I just had colon resection surgery back in Oct for this. Had been battling for 10 years. Doc had been wanting to do surgery for last 4 and I was like NO WAY! 2 to 3 attacks per yr for last few years and I knew I had to do it before big trouble. I can't say diet really had any effect on flare ups. I do not miss that pain! Listen to your Doc if they recommend surgery and good luck to ya!

IBS for years, developed diverticulitis on a trip to Vegas, diagnosed by a PA in the strip CVS (correctly). Took TX doctors 18 months to finally conclude the same thing while I had 6-7 more attacks. Finally had 12 inches of my colon removed. IBS gone, but now have more sensitivities to gluten and dairy. Colon resection sucked, but so worth it.

I kept having attacks over the course of a year and the surgeon wouldnt do surgery because it was a small section being affected. Well, it finally perforated my colon and I had about 8” removed in emergency surgery and woke up with an Ileostomy bag on my abdomen. “Luckily” I only had the bag 3 months and had it reversed. Everything working great now and no more attacks so far.
