I sure though this place closed. I just stumbled upon their Facebook page and looks like they came up with some money to do a bunch of improvements. Anyone here got the story? Played there lately?

Went about three months ago while Links and Oakwing BOTH had tourneys going on... It is still hardpan lies, and greens that a blind man could read (flat but with enough bumps to be mistaken for braille.) The improvements they are making currently seem to be more for drainage and cart path renovation than anything to do with the greens or fairways.

Still a fun little layout for a 9 hole course. The new clubhouse isn't bad, but you now start on the old #8. There was something screwy with the scorecard though as I'm not sure they ever reprinted them. So you have to pay close attention to what hole you're on. They also had a par 3 (no.4?) set up to play almost 300 yards, which was a bit excessive. Other than that it was a fun time. Go in not expecting much and you'll enjoy it.

Me and ClassicGold play there often. Its $28 for 18 holes and a cart. The greens were in surprisingly good condition. They were better than the Links' greens
(which have been complete shite recently) last time we went. The fairways are another story. There are a lot of bare spots and the ground is really firm out there. The cart path is a wreck, but with all of the hills and pine trees you can't really blame them. There isn't a driving range or putting area either.

I am not sure the last time you went out there, but they have rearranged the holes on the course. The old 8th hole is now #1 and the original first hole is now #3.

I always have a good time going out there, you just have to know what to expect. I would rather go play there than spend $50 at the Links.

Is that the hole with the water in front of the green? If so I think it plays as a par 3 on the front 9 and a par 4 on the back.

From their Facebook:

This is the most grass we have had at the golf course in my 18 years here. Mowing fairways every other day!

Place looks like Augusta National!

Yes. We played it from the tips each time... made for a difficult hole to par.

I don't agree with this assessment AT ALL. Links greens definitely took a step back this winter as they were lost to the cold, but on Links' worst day they are better than the greens at Alpine on Alpine's best day.

Maybe its because I have played Links my last few rounds and having to putt on those broccoli greens have stuck in my mind. I guess I was really saying they played more consistent than the Links.

Last time I played there they had golf carts stolen and shite broken all over the course. Not a bad little course for what it costs though.

The Links lost lots of turf on the greens.

I don't understand the Alpine rerouting. Is there a different clubhouse?

The Links Green have rebounded nicely. They cut out a bunch of the bad stuff on 2, 4, 6, 10, and 15 and put new sod down.

Yes. The old clubhouse is gone and a Dollar Tree or something sits where it was. The new clubhouse is between the old #5 and #8 holes.

For as hard is the ground is on this course I Freaking love to play it. It's a really fun layout for a cheaper 9-hole course. I mainly like it because of how different it is compared to most of the courses in our area. It has a little elevation change and some really hard dog legs.
