The Grip thread

This is our only contact with the club.
The grip is extremely important.
How do you hold the club?
I have rotated my left hand to where I see two knuckles and matched it with the right with the V pointing to my right shoulder and it has helped me tremendously.
How do you hold the club?
Strong, weak, neutral?

Grip size is important also. Until arthritis reared its ugly head I didn’t really worry about that, could always clamp down to power through the swing.
Cant do that anymore, so making sure you have the right sized grips can be a big help.

I have always used Tour Velvet grips with my hands in a neutral to strong position.
Butch Harmon said to grip the club in the 5-7 range out of 10 as far as grip pressure .
Butch said the most important thing was to keep that same pressure throughout the swing.
I always use a synthetic glove in the summer heat because it's easier to get on and off. Srixon makes a good one for 11 bucks.

Put these guys on several months ago in Midsize fashion. Love the grips. My grip however has always been pretty neutral, I have been tinkering with it lately to a slightly stronger fashion.

I play my best golf when I'm using a strong grip. If I can kinda see that 4th knuckle on my left hand, it's perfect. Helps me with more wrist hinge and I swing it well. I have to remind myself of that, though, because my left hand can creep slightly weaker if I'm not careful.
Never played well with midsize grips and I use the corded Z-Grip because if anything, it feels slightly thinner than most standard grips.
Also try to feel like I'm holding a tube of toothpaste while not squeezing any out. If I can keep that feeling for the entire swing, that's when I play my best.

I had a weak left hand only seeing about half a knuckle and a strong right hand grip, was causing chaos. I hadn't thought to address my grip in forever. My grip had gotten super weak over the years and I did not notice.
Was causing massive hooks because of the weak left hand I was subconsciously trying to catch up the club face and close it at impact because the face was so open coming in.
I moved my left hand way over, seeing about 2 and a half knuckles and the right a little more on top, I guess I have a neutral grip now. This completely changed my swing. It changed my takeaway, all of it. The club squares so much easier now.
Its crazy the impact the way hold the club can have on the swing.

• Golf Pride MMC +4 grips (purple and gold!)
• Two knuckles visible on left hand.
• Extra tape for a slightly thicker grip feel. Starting to get arthritis in left hand and I feel the thicker grip helps.

Couple years ago we followed morikowa and cam smith, both cutters. I was surprised how strong their left hand grips were. Their right hands seemed more neutral.
I have played mostly GP MCC +4 Align the past few years

Speith has an insanely weak grip, I don’t know how he plays with that.
But it matches his body swing.
