I'll just paste my comment from the movie board...

Only watched the first episode but just a few initial thoughts...
It's pretty cheesy, but not really in a bad way. Happy Gilmore was cheesy, but it worked. Pryce noticing the kid was taken straight from Happy Gilmore's book when Chubbs noticed Happy and the kid hitting the miracle shot around the trees was taken straight from Tin Cups book when Roy hit the bird off it's perch from inside the clubhouse. I get that it looks pretty dumb and out of date, but I actually like the way they tracked the ball around the trees into the dumpster, almost exactly the same way they tracked Happy's drives in HG.
The only thing I didn't like was the 100k proposal, which was absolutely insane considering expenses were already being covered and you just found out one day ago that this guy wanted to coach your son. Golfers pay coaches, not the other way around, much less some astronomical amount for a kid going to be playing in amateur matches. Him being all in with it after seeing the kid hit 4 balls on the range was a bit ridiculous too. Let me put my entire life on the line for a kid that I don't even know if he can putt. I get it's the same as Chubbs and Happy but to an extreme degree, but it's supposed to be real life and it just felt like a very fake story.
Hoping that 5 episodes in Pryce doesn't hook up/start falling in love with the mom and we get a cliche "You're not doing this to help me you're doing this to get with my mom" moment with the son.
The last scene tore at the heart strings a little bit though. Very short scene but was actually kind of touching. I'm guessing the kid got cancer or a brain tumor or something, he didn't look like he was all there in the last scene with him at the birthday party.
