I’ve been using the MTB-X balls and will be trying the MTB-Black. Based on the website, it doesn’t appear to be a big difference between the two and comes down to preferences. Have any of you tried both? Is there a noticeable difference between these balls for someone that scores in the 90s or do you have to be a much better player to appreciate the difference?

I prefer the X over black. Black spins a little too much for my game

Black is a little softer and spins a little more.

Both are good balls.

Blacks were fine and felt good off my irons, but were 20 yards shorter than pro V’s with the driver. Blues are just as long as Pro V’s with all my clubs. I had studied the specs of both, and it should have been the other way around. You can get a variety pack and compare.

It appears as though a few may have spin thing confused. Per Dean, the black is lower spinning than the x

I go back and forth. Currently gaming the blacks but will probably stick with X after this box.

According to the Snell website, The MTB-X spins more on the iron shots but less on the driver than the Blacks.

I suggest that the OP orders the trail pack and test both balls for himself.

Have played both extensively. X is much firmer. Spins more on full irons and withe wedges. Black is much better feeling to my tastes but is more ‘drop and stop ‘
If I’m striking it well I prefer X. If I’m a little off I lose more with X so I like black better then

I did the trial pack and found myself favoring the X. Had a little more control with the black, but a good bit more distance with the X and the control was only slightly down so the X was the better one overall for me.

I’ve been playing blacks for years. Now my weekly group all play Snell balls.
