You are fine.

Close to breaking 90.

You can do it. In fact, with a few lessons and practice I bet you could threaten 80.

Be positive. Life is too short.

I've broken 90 plenty of times. My lowest is 82. But I've also slip into the 100s from time to time. Consistency is my toughest thing to battle since I can't play but maybe twice a month or so.

Looks like he enjoys golf and sees his potential for improvement.
Breaking 100,90,80,70,etc are thresholds for many who play.
He may be a lesson away from averaging below 90.
Maybe next time he can shoot 42/43 and breakthrough.

Good luck to him.

Funny you said that because I shot a 43/42 yesterday.

followed this round up with a smooth 90. been a while. couldn't make shite. didn't hit THAT poorly tho.

then a 77 this weekend without a single birdie. four 3-putts on the back to shoot a 38; 2 of the 3-putts were for eagle

good times
