Anyone here play Hampton Cove Highlands or The Shoals Fighting Joe? Playing both next month and curious of how nice they were and how tonight they were.

I’ve played both the Shoals courses. Fighting Joe is quite nice. It is an absolute behemoth of a golf course. I’m pretty sure it’s the longest course I’ve ever played. Play up at least one set of tees if not two.

Solid. Top 3 on the Trail.

Hampton Cove is nice. Never been over to the Shoals.

I have played the Shoals about 20 times the last 3 months. Fighting Joe is in great shape. It is long, 700+ yd par 5 from the tips (don't play them), and if you miss the fairways you are dead and probably losing your ball. As long as you are getting off the tee you can score. Schoolmaster is the other course at the Shoals and is a more traditional course. Tree lined for most part and a little easier. If you can play both I would.
I played Hampton Cove Highlands course back in June and it was in great shape as well. Most RTJ courses usually are. It is a lot more scenic than the shoals courses (minus #18 on Fighting Joe) and has some elevation changes which is fun since Louisiana does not for the most part. I definitely prefer the Highlands course over the River course at Hampton Cove.

I would skip the Highlands and play the River course at Hampton Cove. Just got back from a trip this weekend. Played both courses at Hampton Cove and at The Shoals. The Shoals was in great shape with the exception of the softness of the bent greens on Fighting Joe. They could've been better but still not bad by no means. Schoolmaster was in great shape. The River Course was in phenomenal shape as well. Highlands was not good. Layout is fine...but the greens are absolute trash in my opinion. They are bent and one of the grounds crew guys said they are struggling with them...it's been that way for several weeks now. Its really hard to believe that they were so much different than the sister course although the River has Champions greens I think.
The River has some seriously tough reads on the greens but I definitely enjoyed all 3 other courses vs The Highlands. As someone else said, Fighting Joe is an absolute bear of a course. I think its 8100 from the tips but it's a great course. The par 3 to end it overlooking the Tennessee River is awesome.
