Went to Hilton Head for my honeymoon. My wife came ride the round with me and we got paired with another married couple doing the same thing. We hit it off really well. It was New Year’s week and Hilton Head had this big event called “The Renaissance” which had toms of Fortune 500 big wigs, celebrities and politicians…including Bill Clinton who was the sitting president at the time. Anyway, the couple asks what plans we had that night (NYE) and we really only had dinner plans. They tell us they had 2 extra tickets to a really great party and insist we go with them. So we agree. We meet at their hotel and take a shuttle bus to the party. Ron Silver the actor is sitting next to me. (RIP). The first person I see at the party is Marcus Allen. The guy we went with keeps telling us the names of all these big wigs who are there. We meet this guy who lived his life hooking up with wealthy older widows The band calls my wife and I out to the dance floor and tells everyone we’re on our honeymoon and they made us dance in front of all these people who are clapping for us.

Anywho, just before midnight, the Secret Service comes in and starts casing the joint. Bill Clinton comes in and does the midnight countdown with us.

At the time, I was an assistant manager at a grocery store making $10/hr. it’s still one of the most surreal experiences of my life

For the most part yes.. in the 20+ years I've been playing I've only had 2 unfortunate experiences .. I don't count the scrambles that have booze at every tee box and dudes can't handle there liquor..

Used to travel all the time and get to play all the Tour courses. Have been paired up with Ben Crane, KJ Choi, Tommy Armour 3rd, and a bunch of business guys.
Most of those guys are pretty good guys and fun to play with. Even if your a good golfer they will crush you when they turn the switch on. Crazy talent and can drop a 65 with their eyes closed.
Played Tour 18 in Dallas with KJ after he finished tied for 3rd at the Masters that spring...his name was on the board at #12, made a 12 ft birdie on him while he made a par...he used to be a powerlifter had quads like a horse

My favorite happened at least 20 years ago at Webb Park in BR. My friend and I were paired with a couple of dudes who were probably around 70 years old and they spent the whole round good-naturedly busting each other's balls about everything, from golf to wives to penis size.

We get to the 14th hole (the dog leg left over the canal) and one of the dudes walks up to the tee box with a 9-iron and hits a perfect lay-up shot, about 10 yards short of the canal. His buddy yells "You fricking candy-arse!!" at him.

The best part was when dude #2 used his driver and hit his shot into the canal. The "I told you so, you dumb fricker"s from 9-iron guy lasted til the end of the round, and probably into the parking lot

We were in Orlando for my daughters gymnastic competition and I brought my clubs so I could play a round or two. My son who was 3 at the time wanted to go with me so I chose a less popular course and a late afternoon tee time with plenty of 4 player options around it in hopes I would not get paired with anyone.

We show up 30 minutes prior and I get told I'm paired with two other guys (I have my kid with me and am thinking shite I just ruined everyone's day). I went and shook their hands and told them what was going on and they were awesome about it and said they didn't mind, none of us were pro's just out having a good time.

It turns out they were a father and son combo and the son taught wrestling at a university in Little Rock (where we use to live). So we all got along well, at the end of the round the Dad tells me "that's one of the most well behaved 3 years old's I've ever been around" since he just followed us around and carried our clubs for us.

Couple years back snuck away one Friday morning to play a quick 9 and get back before my kids got off the bus. After the first hole the marshall approaches me and asks me if I would mind playing with the 2 old ladies behind me to help speed up the overall pace. He said they played almost every day and played quick. I told him yeah no problem.

We do the introductions and start playing together. They were 2 of the nicest ladies you would ever want to meet and hit it about 90 yards but dead straight every damn time.

Anyway we are on about the 7th hole and they are asking me more about myself when one of the ladies realizes that she is in fact my mom's first cousin She hadn't seen me since I was a toddler. Small world

As a 13 year old or so, my Dad and I got paired up with Todd Walker and Jason Williams at the old LSU golf course back when front nine was still across Nicholson. Both were pretty nice, I was a quick player and shot in the 80s. This was in the summer, they said Skip didn't let them play during the season.

And then a few years back, playing UC on a weekday afternoon course was empty, an LSU golfer named Curtis rolled up and played probably 6-8 holes with us. It took us a bit to figure out his sister was Lexi Thompson, he said something like she gave him a Rolex for Christmas since she they were her sponsor. He was very polite and seemed like a good dude. Rooted for him to make it on the tour but looking at his stats on Korn Ferry this year, only made one cut out of 11 tournaments this season.
