Rick does a great job on these local stories. Interviews some of the Querbes “legends” on the courses’ 100 year anniversary.
Hal Sutton, Eddie Lyons, Meredith Duncan, etc.

Wow those are some names from my past. Brent Belton, Byron May, Lyons, Johnson Ramsey and of course Hal. Thanks for sharing.

That is a name I haven't heard in a while. Great golf family

Nice, thanks for sharing. There and West Wood Executive par 3 course is where I leaned to play.
When I was younger I'd play in the city am at Querbes and Eddie Lyons was winning. Years later in the clubhouse I checked the city am trophy and saw Eddie had won the year before. Nobody dominated the city am like he has. Shreveport/Bossier has a ton of good golfers, it's pretty impressive to win it as many times as he has.
Nathan Barrow is a really nice guy as well, glad they interviewed him.

You must know the Nethertons pretty well then?

I do not. Sounds familiar but no not that I know off the top of my head.

They owned the Par 3 that you mentioned.

I could still name you all the holes at Westwood. Played many of school matches on the par 3 nine.
Netherton's were a staple out there. Was sad to hear that it was closed. (many years ago now)

Ahh ok. Yea I am sure I met them then because I was out there all the time. But I was younger so I wasn't really in close with many of the older ones out there. Some very good memories out there though and they had a fantastic burger at the grill

No joke at work one day a month or so ago I sat down and mapped out the course on a sticky note. I got a little hazy around hole 6 and 7 but I got it figured out. #14 on the back 9 running along the fence line used to give me hell. That was a hard par, not sure I ever birdied it.
I remember when the back nine was basically play as many times as you want for one green fee. I put in some rounds out there for sure.

Great story, thanks! I had family that lived near there in the early days and caddied and played there. Fun course to play.
