This is still being clarified. He closed courses in state parks. Courses still likely to be determined at the local level. It's apparently going to be addressed in Gov. Abbott's press conference at noon

I did hear state parks to be closed from the Governor but unsure how this will affect the other courses. Watching the news conference now but I doubt he will address it.

Our club sent this out earlier today, hoping it’s fake news.
Getting conflicting reports from friends at other clubs in town that think they’re staying open. Hopefully Sugar Creek just got it wrong.

Damn. I don’t see anything from my local course. I do see it’s busy as hell by looking at availability of tee times today so people may be bracing for it. I may need to get over there and see what they are saying.

Really hope your club misunderstood.

Started digging a little bit. This is State specific information and local rules may be different.

LINK Alabama OPEN

Specifically, golf courses can remain open if the activity can maintain a 6-foot distance from others and be done with fewer than 10 people. Golf can be played that way.
LINK to Louisiana OPEN

Louisiana has issued a safer-at-home order, but golf courses, including New Orleans municipal courses, can remain open.
LINK to Texas Open

Ultimately, state parks -- and golf courses therein -- must close. However, golf courses can otherwise remain open throughout the state.
Courses can close voluntarily or could be ordered closed by a more specific ordinance at a local level. In a number of Texas counties and cities, golf courses had already been required closed. Various governments in the state had closed their owned-and-operated courses as well.
Governor Abbott's executive order on the subject supercedes local rules, but local rules can be more strict provided they don't directly conflict with his order. Now, they're one in the same with areas, like Austin and Dallas, that had closed courses.

My club in Atascocita, just south of kingwood, is officially open. Hope it lasts.
