Laid off at the top of the swing

Do any of y’all ever have those occasional shots in practice that just feel completely flush? Yesterday, I finally tried to figure out what I was doing differently on those swings and realized I was getting pretty severely laid off at the top. I’m assuming that was forcing me to make several compensations on the way down just to get into a decent impact position, which would explain the inconsistency. Has anyone else dealt with this, and what helped you fix it?

I'm not exactly sure what laid off at the top of the swing means. You shorten up you backswing a little?
I feel I always play my best golf when I simply have good rhythm and rotation in my swing. Gives me good consistency and power on every shot.

You’re probably rolling your forearms a little too much. Stand with your heels about two feet away from a wall and swing to the top without hitting the wall. Maybe turn the club upside down to keep from damaging the club or wall.

Trail palm rotated too much and pointing to the sky too soon.
