Anyone, htown are, recommend where to go to get fitted primarily for a new shaft for my current setup. Late model Epic head with HZDRS regular or flex shaft. Been told to look at the ventus line. Sound like good advice?

Impact Precision in Spring, they have every major shaft options. You have to pay for the fitting regardless if you buy from them or not. Trevor is the main fitter but he is booked at least a month in advance. Drew has better availability.

What's your hcp? If you're a high handicap player, a premium shaft won't help much and will cost more than your driver is worth as it's several years old.
Sounds like what you need is just a fitting to see what your clubhead speed is so you can match your flex, you can go to a PGA Superstore, Edwin Watts, or Golf Galaxy and you can get that done for free. If you go to a custom club fitter, they will charge you a fee that will usually be waived if you buy clubs from them. The chart for flex is pretty standard.

The Ventus line is really good, there's a reason it is the most played shaft on all the tours, even their stock off the shelf model.
There are 4 Ventus Profiles
Ventus Blue: Balanced mid-launch and mid-spin, smooth feel, suitable for a wide range of players.
Ventus Black: Low-launch, low-spin, stiffer feel, ideal for faster swing speeds seeking maximum control.
Ventus Red: Higher launch and spin, lighter feel, designed for players with moderate swing speeds who want more carry distance.
Ventus White shaft is designed for golfers seeking a lightweight, high-launch, and high-spin option that maintains stability and consistency during their swing.
The Ventus line has a stock shaft that comes in clubs off the rack, they are around $100, the custom version is made with a material called Velocore which produces more stability, it's what the pros and lower hcp players use. It doesn't help you hit it farther, it helps with your dispersion (left to right) but if you're a high hcp who slices or hooks the ball severely, it won't help enough to justify the $350-400 price tag. Now if you got the money to burn, knock yourself out.
Just curious, why do you think you need a new shaft, what's going on with the flight of the ball or are you just looking for more distance?

Handicap right at 13. Brought it down from about 19 over the last 2 years.
From what I’m told, I need a stiffer staff and it might help with the dispersion on my misses. I’m a lot more straighter these days but could use a little help of the tee on tighter courses

Not bad, coming down 6 points is no easy task. Here's my suggestion since you're not spraying it all over the place and can put together several good strikes in a row. You're in an older model driver, as in 2021 get custom fitted for a driver, try every head with stock shaft options then try some of the tour level custom shafts and see if it makes a difference in your game. The new technology in today's driver heads is unreal and the shafts can make a big difference. Like I said previously, the custom shafts don't help hit it farther, but they do help in dispersion which is what you seem to want help with, now how much depends on you, how you strike the ball, club path etc... Don't be afraid to try last years models as well, in fact, I have the Titliest GT2 with a Ventus Blue TR 6S velocore shaft, according to recent tests, the new GTS2 isn't any better and for $400 cheaper, you can get the GT2 with an upgraded shaft for the price of the 2026 GTS model.
Don't go to Edwin Watts, golf Galaxy or Dicks to get fitted. Most of the guys there are just people who enjoy golf and don't have the expertise to properly fit you and they won't have the custom shaft options. If you want to go to the big box stores, stick to the PGA Superstore or in the Dallas area, 2nd Swing. I know Hal Sutton had a golf academy in Houston that did fittings, not sure if he's still there. Stay away from Club Champion, they charge for their services if you don't buy from them and they are incredibly expensive. I'm sure there are several good professional fitters in Houston since it's such a big city.
