"Grow the Game"

Why does anyone care about growing the game? I understand more golfers means more viewers and dollars for professional, but why do everyday working stiffs with weekend tee times care about growing the game?
I'd rather a more open tee sheet. I could care less how many people pick up golf.

People keep on shitting on golfers going to LIV to grow the game. I get the narrative that the main reason they’re going is for money and to play less golf.
But for some people like Rahm, who grew up idolizing Seve, it is a personal reason to grow the international circuit. They do have a vision to grow their tour until you see more tournaments like LIV Adelaide.
The loudest and most obnoxious people saying the “Grow the game” rhetoric is BS are US fans. They cannot fathom an international circuit because the PGAT has been a monopoly for as long as it’s been around. The game of golf does not revolve around the US and I think at its core that is the reason why so many are upset with PIF. Not this bullshite about “tradition.” No one cares about the John Deere classic. They care because they have lost complete control of the sport. It might be a good thing for the sport to go global. I don’t think LIV is going anywhere FWIW

Why does anyone care about growing the game?
Because most professional golfers love to share their passion with others, especially international players that come from poor countries?
Because once you get a gagillion dollars, there's not much you can spend your money on besides more houses and useless stuff?
Because golfers need tax breaks?

2) How much less could you care?
