Golf Membership in Houston Advice?

So, I'm looking into getting a junior membership to one of the Houston courses and need some advice on where to go.
I live in the Galleria area and want to join a course that has a decent practice facility. Also, I am looking for a club that doesn't have an enormous initiation fee.
Any input is welcome!

Depends on where you live.
Close to Katy, Pine Forest CC
Close to Sugarland, Riverbend CC
Close to downtown, save your money and play Wildcat.
Close to northwest Houston, Northgate or Champions CC
South of Houston, Magnolia Creek CC

What part of the galleria? If you’re on the north side, closer to I10, Lakeside or Royal Oaks aren’t a bad drive down I10 and both great clubs. The initiation fees may be a little high at both of these though.
If you’re on the south side of the galleria, Braeburn and Westwood are right down 59. I haven’t played either course in 20 years, so no clue what they’re like these days.
I lived downtown for a while and joined Wildcat. It was great for getting out for quick rounds during the week, but I hated their range. It’s hard to work on your game with 20 MPH crosswinds all the time.

Join either Black Hawk or GCOH. You will have 5 courses to play for the same dues.
I can bring you out to play to see if it’s something you want to do. I can also introduce you to our group. We have about 60-70 guys on the distribution list and quite frequently have 15 players playing in wolf, skins and team bets. Handicaps range from +3 to 13.

Sorry, I missed the Galleria reference.
Braeburn and Westwood are really nice clubs although they have a older membership.
I agree on Wildcats range, the wind can be challenging.
Houston CC is close. And Memorial Park will be nice.

lakeside is probably out of your budget if you are worried about price. Braeburn is a good option and they are about to redo the whole course, not sure of the exact prices, but would be a lot less than lakeside and not as hard to get in. I know quite a few 30-40 year olds that are members out there, but also know a bunch of 65+. If you want to get really cheap then pine forest or riverbend are good. Pine forest is $1,250 initiation right now for junior.

Check out Royal Oaks....just not a fan of the surrounding area (but not far from galleria)

Braeburn is a $10,000 initiation fee with a $393 monthly dues.
Pine Forest seems like a really good deal

If you’re fine with driving a bit every time you want to play, this is the way to go.
I looked at a junior membership at GCOH a couple years ago. $15k initiation fee, but they would knock it down to $12.5k if I paid in full. Can’t remember monthly dues, but think they were $350-400.

Idk what initiation is anymore but I do know that we have deals that can be made plus there are also trial memberships and even a weekday membership offering. I live in Meyerland area and it’s only 30 minutes to either of the clubs for me. I would only join 3 other clubs around town two of which are about 45 minutes to 1 hour for me and the third place is a pain in the arse to get to.

Riverbend is about 20 mins from your location in sugar land. Sweet water CC is there too. Two excellent courses that won’t break the bank.

If you’re talking about Riverbend and Sweetwater, Sugar Creek should be on the list too. They just went through a renovation and its supposedly in amazing shape.
That said, I would go with GCOH over all those. It’s a similar distance from the galleria. Only downside is it doesn’t have all the country club amenities, like pools, if you want that too.

I've mentioned before that I love Riverbend CC. The course makes you use every club in the bag and the membership has always been very friendly.
I was a member of Sweetwater CC about 16 years ago. Don't know why, but I never really like it and left after a couple of years. It always perturbed me when I brought a guest and they had to pay a ridiculous green fee at the time even on a week day.

Blackhawk or GCOH is answer. I work for that company and can put you in touch with Karie who will hook you up! Let me know
