You done any research yet? I saw a guy on Reddit mention he did a 5 day 4 night stay and play there that included all 5 courses including the Ocean Course for $1500. That’s seems like a crazy deal to me isn’t the Ocean Course like $400 by itself? Wondering if that’s legit or he’s full of shite but haven’t looked in to it.

Love this topic and meant to reply earlier.

Pinehurst is on my list to try, as is Whistling Straits, Streamsong, and Sand Valley. We still want to hit St Andrews and The Cabot courses too.

We have been fortunate to do Bandon (return in 2021!), Pebble/Spyglass/Spanish/Poppy, I also hit Pasatiempo which is way better than Poppy, Vegas area, Los Cabos, Alabama RTJ (Ross and Oxmoor and Farmlinks), and this year we were able to get in our trip to Idaho. Also, I have been able to golf a fair amount of Hawaiian courses, or have friends that have.

I can give info on experience for any of those trips, and I luckily live in AZ and have played most areas of the state.

Travel golf w buddies may be the best part of adulthood. I can’t wait to play Sheep Ranch next year. Travel safe and create the memories!

We actually didn’t. Heard it was good, but we ended up playing the Coeur D’Alene resort course (did you know they have an island green? Inside joke), Circling Raven and Avondale. We had 4 of the group able to get onto Rock Creek and they said it was one of the best courses they ever played including Bandon courses.

I must add the caveat that they were potentially saying that after being butthurt that the rest of the group bailed on the tee time due to not being able to finish the morning round quickly enough.

Circling Raven was very choice with a great practice area.

Damn missed your response somehow. The resort course looks incredible too, I'd like to play both when I go.

Is Rock Creek private or harder to get on to than the resort course or gozzer?

Any other must do things in Coeur D'Alene that you'd recommend?

Edit: Actually just realized I was thinking of Circling Raven not Gozzer in terms of planning to play there, Gozzer is private and apparently super hard to get on to.

Well, Rock Creek is private and the guys had a weird hookup. We stayed at the CDA resort a couple nights which is definitely overpriced. The resort course is definitely worth playing once. The resort is on the water and you can walk around the Main Street of Couer D’Alene for food and shopping.

People do like to get out on boats to be in the lake and I think you can fish out there. There’s also a decent trail you can hike (couple miles) that’s easy to walk to from resort.

Circling Raven has a hotel casino you can stay with really good pricing, but not much else going on in that area.

Typically when we go w guys only it makes it easier to just keep it centered around golf stuff.

I would highly recommend Bend, OR for better eating and entertainment options. There’s some very good golf there.

Just got back from Pinehurst. A great trip and I’m already itching to do it again. We arrived on Wednesday, drove over to an Airbnb right on Pinehurst #3. Played Tobacco Road first thing Thursday morning and then played Pine Needles in the afternoon. Friday we played #8 and #9, checked into the Holly and grabbed dinner there. Saturday we grabbed breakfast, played the cradle and then played #2 in the early afternoon. Sunday we played #4 through some rain but still a great course.

Pinehurst is a great golf destination with a good mix of courses on and off property. Tobacco Road, #2 and #4 were the favorites. I wish we had a bit more time in the evenings to wind down playing the cradle but just didn’t work with us playing golf to sun down most days.

Thanks for coming back to thread for update.
I’ve heard Tobacco Road is a love it/hate it type course. I also heard play was painfully slow there. What was your assessment?

I don’t see how you can hate Tobacco Road. It’s in no way a traditional course but man some of the views and shots make for a great round of golf. An awesome contrast to your traditional Pine Needles in the afternoon.

Unfortunately, play was slow everywhere except Sunday as the rain scared a few people off #4. I can say we were able to get two rounds of golf in Thursday and Friday on some great tracks with a lunch break. It got a little dark on 18 the days we played two courses but we got it all in so all I can Ask for. The slow play didn’t bother me and I somewhat anticipated it. The cradle and #2 day was a perfect break after playing 4 rounds in 2 days.
