Wanted to give a heads up on conditions in Destin this week
Played Kelly , Wind Swept Dunes and emerald bay this week.

Kelly $215.00. Fairways was brown and all the bunkers had limited or below limited sand in them. Very disappointed. Greens were hairy and was the slowest of the three. Defineltly not worth the money to play right now. Use to be way better in the past

Emerald Bay. Had to dodge two thunderstorms during our morning session. Had lots of rain during the night and the week course was very wet. Greens was better than Kelly and fairways was in excellent shape Price was $139.00 and I feel well worth it

Lastly but not least. WSD Was an absolute pleasure to play. Fairways were perfect, plush and full growth. Greens were mint, rolled true and full. 45 minutes out of town but worth it Price was $119.00
My choice in order to play

Wind Swept Dunes
EmeraLd Bay
Kelly

Enjoy

Windswept is so awesome. You wouldn’t know it when you drive up and look at the club house. Tee boxes for everyone, and plenty of room on the fairways. The also do a really good job of keeping it well kept.

Met a couple from Michigan there in the winter that just comes down to stay at their Florida house during the cold months. My opinion is that those are the folks that really fund that course overall.

Played WD recently for the first time. A lot of blindish shots. Got on a bunch of tees and couldn't figure out a line. I knew based on the cart it was best to aim at a bunker, but couldn't see it in the fairway. Just a really great mental test.

Greens were a lot of fun. I played from too far back. Should have slid up a tee or two. It would have made some of the tee shots more challenging, I.e. Risk reward. It would have also given me shorter clubs in so I could hit it in the right section of greens. Where I was, I was just happy to get on the green. Then it was a prayer for a two putt.

If you are asking why WSD is so much better - - I can answer this. The course was designed and built by the same man who owns it and runs it today. And when I say owns it and runs it, that is what I mean. A committee of one. he and his wife are in the clubhouse everyday....he is on the course every day. It is his baby.
