I've been to Branson and played Top of the Rock and Buffalo Ridge. Both awesome courses. Give it until next year and that place will be more recognized as a golf destination. Two new courses set to be finished in the next year, one designed by Tiger Woods.

Did Kohler when LSU played in GB in 2016. It was awesome. I was a tag along with my pops and a group so I'm sure I don't want to know the cost but it was well worth it. We played Whislting Straits and Black Wolf Run. One of the best trips I have ever been on. Even with LSU blowing it in Lambeau

Any recommendations on best spots on the RTJ for a long weekend?

For under $2k I suggest flying into Grand Rapids and renting a car to drive to the northern part of Michigan. Make Arcadia Bluffs and Forest Dunes the key courses and then fill in other courses as desired (there are so many nice courses to choose from that the rates are all very reasonable). Driving between locations is not too bad.
On the return to Grand Rapids there are some nice courses to play along the way.

Divot, what about the treetops resort in that northern Michigan area?

I have not been to Treetops. From what I heard last summer (mis July)on a trip up there, the Treetops were having some difficulties with their greens at the time. From what I can tell researching, there are better options to choose from in the area, but Treetops gives you several options in a condensed area if you want to stay there.
Our trip last year was five different courses in three days:
— Midnight arrived in Grand Rapids and spent the night, woke up Friday and drove to play 18 at St. Ives and another 18 at Tullymore, then we drove about 1.5 hours NE and spent the night.
— Woke up Saturday and drove to Forest Dunes in Roscommon for 18 and then we drove south to play 18 at Buck’s Run, then we drove about an hour west and spent the night.
— woke up and played 18 at Pilgrim’s Run, at lunch in Grand Rapids and caught our flight home to LA.
While we played 36 the first two days, we never got tired since the high was only 82 and there was no humidity.
