Or am I thinking of another zelda on the wii?
You're thinking of Twilight Princess, which was released on the Gamecube and was also a launch title for the Wii. It was later remastered and released on the Wii U.

The Gamecube version and Wii U versions used a gamepad. Skyward Sword was only released on Wii (and Wii U, technically) and the game was built around the motion controls, such as swinging your sword in the correct direction to attack enemies.

Thanks for that info. What is your opinion of skyward sword? Anybody here play it? I remember gamecube after reading your post. I also recall a time certain Zelda games came out in the smaller hand held devices that I didn't get to play because of this.

Ehh Skyward Sword is an interesting game. There’s a lot of weird mechanics that deviate from it being a great Zelda game but it’s still fun and absolutely worth playing if you’re a Zelda fan.

In terms of the big six 3D Zelda games, It’s last. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a good/fun game. That’s more of a credit to how great the other 5 are.

If you are on a zelda kick, let me reccomend wind waker.

Real fun. I think you'd like it a lot.

I missed playing all the zelda titles growing up too, so I went and binged OoT, Majoras Mask, wind waker, before botw came out. Amazing games.
