Xbox One question - 2 player in NBA Live 15

Santa brought my son an Xbox One with a few games. Can anyone explain to me how to get NBA Live 15 where he and I can play each other? All I can figure out is multiplayer against another person via the web and one player.
Probably a very elementary question, but I haven't played these things in years. Thanks!

Sounds like Santa brought Santa an Xbox One. Never played the game, though, sorry.

have 2 controllers turned on and go the an exhibition game. When selecting teams, put one controller to each side, hit left on one controller and right on the other. this should be all you have to do.

The controller isn't popping up on that screen. The Xbox button lights up, blinks, then turns off. I have replaced the batteries.
Is this strictly a 1 player game?

Activating multiplayer in NBA Live is frustrating, but doable. Here's the fastest way.
1) Go to the NBA Live 15 facebook page, and hit the "like" button
2) This will send a multiplayer activation promo code to the email box linked to your facebook account. It should be there within 15-20 minutes.
3) If the code hasn't arrived within 30 minutes, email EA Sports: awilson@ea.com. Send him a photo proof of purchase (usually the bar code will suffice), and explain to him that you want to activate 2-player mode.

You need to hit the home screen and go up in the top left to profiles. And make sure one is the profile and one is the guest (or another profile)

All this just to play offline against each other? That's weird

I knew he was joking. I just had to sync the controller with the Xbox.
Thanks fellas.
