Xbox Live Issues?

I'm having trouble staying connected to Xbox Live. The other day I was playing a friend in Madden online and we kept on disconnecting mid game, tried it again the next day and we still kept getting disconnected. Tried playing Battlefield and the same thing happened.
It seems to happen more often when my roommate and I are both online, but why would that be? We haven't had any problems in the past year until this past weekend. If we're both online we can't go 5 minutes without one of us getting kicked, but I don't lose internet connection on any of my other devices.
Has anyone else had any issues like this or have any advice? I don't want to needlessly call Cox out to look at my internet.

Are y'all both on the same router? If so, that's the problem. I used to have two roommates and we would all play Xbox together on separate systems, and we would have the same problem. It's an IP issue created sometimes when multiple systems are on the same network. You can google the solution, there's a specific set of IP setting you have to designate and stuff. It's not easy, but it'll fix the problem
