xbox gurus: I need your help. (fifa10/xbox/problem)

cliff notes:
-I'm broke
-xbox game failure
-I need to buy my friend fifa10
-any suggestions or advice?
My buddy was talking about how much he loves fifa10 and he enjoys playing it. Well we were at a bar and talked about it a bit and then around 1am, we decided to go play it. So we're drunk and playing. I go down 2-nil in the 50th and I get mad. I kick an ottoman and it rolls---right before it slows down to a stop, it hits the xbox and knocks it down(onto some carpet). Well, we fire it back up with a disc read error. We tried everything else--cleaning, washing, rebooting, waiting, deleting saved games, deleting download games, etc.. We tried other games and they work just find. DVDs read fine.
It's only that disc that does not read. He tried a buddy's fifa10 and it worked just fine. I feel really bad that I broke his game that he loved and I need to replace this game for him. I'm broke.
How the frick did the disc just stop working? There are no visible scratches on it. The xbox fell softly. Other discs work. System works. Any other options? is this a common thing for discs to just stop working?
Thanks

I 'ed.
I'm just wondering how it is so easy to ruin a disc? And there are no scratches or anything noticeable

That's weird. I got the red ring while trying to play FIFA.

Did you try downloading it to the hd?

MMMMkay.
I did some more research.
It seems like it's called "Laser Burn" and it happens when the system is moved while the disc is spinning. Apparently, the xbox360 discs are thicker than other discs, and even a small shift can tilt the disc enough and it will rub the surface of the laser head.
I don't know if it's an actual scratch on the plastic (broke the surface, didn't reach "info layer"--fill in with some kind of clear material) or if it is just a scuff on the surface (added material added to the disc, laser cant read through it--remove excess so can be read.).
I think my advice would be to keep the system in the horizontal position vs the vertical because it seems like it would take a bigger shift/shake in horizontal position to achieve the actual disc movement than it would in the vertical position. (that's a long sentence.)
A few potential options to fix are available.
1. Disc repair services. Mail it off to them and they'll use some kind of machine (more on this in a second) and some solutions to repair the scratch. Some video or game stores might have this.
..The machines apply some solution to the disc, and spins to buffer it in.
2. Flat screen TV cleaning solution. Again, buff dattt.
3. Car wax. Wax your car/truck outside, come back in and do the same to your xbox disc.
4. Silver polish. This one might be reaching, but it's worth a shot. Same as all the others, buff dat.
So I guess it's a case of scratch removal. I'd like to hear back if anyone has tried this or had success with this.

This
It happened to me with COD4 and I sent it back in and they sent me one for like 40 bucks, a little cheaper than buying a new one
