Heck, just the need to farm rare crafting recipes and make alchemy lab/Black Forge/Black Anvil runs kept these dungeons relevant and useful soooooo much longer than present-day dungeons which become largely obsolete after the first month or two of the expansion (beyond the occasional late-game catch up gear), and that’s a real shame.

I've never really looked at it like that before, it makes sense.

Instead of making dungeons useful outside of loot, like the ways you mentioned, they decided to have players run them as fast as possible for better loot (Mythic+) instead of the immersion.

I remember running BRD all the time for some Fire Resistance bracers for our MC raid. You just don't need to do that kind of stuff anymore and I think the game benefited from it.

If you had a couple friends that needed to do some dungeons to prepare for the week's raid all of your friends would group up and run those dungeons for everyone. Now dungeons revolve around people guarding their precious Mythic+ keys that they have to use an addon/website to determine if you're qualified.

I have so many good memories from Kara and BWL. I made lifelong friends all over the country while playing that game, people that I still talk to today. I've tried getting back in to it, but that feeling is just absent now. I haven't played since Lich King

Well, come back when vanilla launches :D. The game has fun aspects now but, isn't the same as back when it was a lot more social and knew everyone on your server for good or bad.

MC for me - Rags popping up from the lava, and the "window" behind the Giant boss you could see Rags through was always good for killing a buncha folks.

the Garr bug where a lock pet could become the bomb, get dismissed and then summoned in the IF AH with the bomb and killing everyone was great times.

Kara has a soft spot - remember 2 of us mage tanking an add by IB kiting it between us.
