I've got about an hour into it so far. If you want a stealth game like the originals, you are probably going to be disappointed. There is still a stealth element but you can't really creep through a level without killing anyone. If you can knock someone out, I haven't found out how to do it.
The combat is based on a cover system kind of like gears of war and Uncharted. You can still sneak up behind people and kill them but it isn't as prevalent as the other games(at least not as far as I am).
I'm having fun playing it though. The combat is fun and there are some bad arse executions that you can do. Honestly for 5$ I don't think you can go wrong.

The biggest complaint about the games after chaos theory usually come from people that loved the originals. I think for someone to jump it it is probably fine.
