Pulled the PS3 back out a couple weeks ago for a couple older games (this and Skate), and wish with this revival that Sega is going through right now this is a franchise they would kick the tires on once more.

I know they aren't allowed to do a simulation football game with the NFL license they have, but they didn't need the NFL license when they made this one as well.

Everyone talks about how NFL 2K5 is one of the greatest video games, but this one used those same gameplay mechanics on a more recent gen of consoles. They would also have a much larger, and more entertaining, pool of players to select from. I always liked the concept the game had of selecting a number of legends from different talent levels.

Anyone else remember this gem?

Yeah this one was great, they took the sweet gameplay of 2k5 and polished it even further. Over 20 years now and the on field gameplay is still 1000 times closer to real life than Madden will ever be.

I think that a future version could include some legends, but also generic players so that we could do a whole franchise: the single season mode doesn’t give this one a lot of replay value IMO.

Pretty sure Sega has nothing to do with this.

That said, the entire reason this game exists was because EA got exclusive rights to NFL video games.

Don't think this game sold all that well, killing any chance for a sequel. Some will say that this game has the best gameplay of any football game on the market, but I haven't played it.

Yeah, just realized Take Two bought the company way back in like 2005

I don't think it sold well either, which is sad because it does have some of the most natural and best gameplay out there for a football game, but no NFL license or nowadays card game to play in it, and the kids have zero interest

Even if 2K started making NFL games again, it's been 18 years since the last one. The 2K of today is not the same 2K that made NFL 2K5 and All Pro Football.

That said competition is good. I was sad when EA stopped making NBA Live games.

Oh I know it's damn near impossible at this point, but I'd imagine they still have the animations stored somewhere so it'd just be getting next-gen systems to carry them out.

I know they wouldn't just like why EA stopping making Live games. There's one at the top of the mountain and not much is getting past base camp.

I just hate coming back and playing this game knowing sim football fans would be in heaven with a modern version of this game, plus the new legends you could add to it, having Sammy Baugh slinging it to Randy Moss and Gronk would be funny as hell

I want Blitz The League to make a third game. Never fricking happening because EA got the rights when Midway dissolved.
