Most people don’t have this take and I’ve seen a lot say owl father is the hardest boss in the game outside the final boss but I think owl father is easier than the first and mandatory owl fight.

This is primarily because one of his two big new moves the one where he puts the red owl in the air can be Mikuri countered pretty easily giving you a massive advantage at building his posture.

His blue owl move can be annoying as hell at first but after a few tries you get the hang of just getting out of the way.

It was late and I only made a few attempts at him before calling it a night.

I took care of the True Corrupted Monk yesterday and I had a similar take about that fight that you have with Owl Father. I initially panicked due to it needing 3 death blows, but once I figured out that her second phase was very easy and that the shadows are simply doing a 1-2-3 attack that is easily deflected, it became a very easy fight

Do you have access to the gauntlets of strength or is that something that is only available in new game + I can’t remember?

If you don’t know what I mean it’s basically a boss rush mode of certain bosses there’s 4 different ones and I think beating them gives you cosmetics it’s been a long time. What’s cool is the bosses are all the “inner” versions of themselves and have added moves to their abilities and are more aggressive.

You can’t unlock all 4 in one play through though. For them to show up in it you have to beat them in the main game and that takes at minimum two runs to fight all of them

ETA yeah I just loaded up the game to check. You have to finish the game with one of the endings beating one of the 2 final bosses before these are available. I definitely recommend doing them when you can though, the outfits are sick and inner Genichiro is one the best designed one on one sword duels I’ve ever seen in gaming. It basically takes his first fight atop the castle and dials it up to 15. He specifically gets access to a handful of new moves one of which is sort of like one you can eventually unlock where you use the blade that can kill immortals to do a massive sweeping circle strike with blood but he uses what looks like wind

welp, I've gotten 9 prayer necklaces plus 1 bead. I think I've gotten down all the headless. Not sure I know which mini bosses are still left or if there are any beads hiding somewhere. The only bosses left are Owl Father and then Genichiro and I'm guessing Isshin. I've tried to not look stuff up except for specific quests or whatever so I'm not sure exactly what the ending is looking like for me. Got wrecked a few times against Owl Father before turning it off last night. Gonna see if I can't finish this thing up tonight.

Hatred Demon is a fricking c unt.

Have gotten to about halfway through his third phase health bar but can’t get over the hump

EDIT: stepped away and came back a couple of hours later and beat him on the first try. Funny how that works

Got through first 2 phases pretty easily and hit a road block so I’ll get back to it later tonight. Didn’t seem impossible like the Hatred Demon did at one point. Just need a good solid run

Use lighting reversal in phase 3. It will nuke the shite out of him

I highly recommend doing another run right after and instead of choosing to side with Kuro side with Owl for the evil or “Shura” ending.

You get to fight a separate version of Ishin as the final boss where he wields fire magic but he isn’t as hard as the true final boss which makes sense story wise since he is old as hell when you fight him in the bad ending. You also have to fight Emma right before him and she has one health bar so it’s still essentially like fighting a final boss with 3 health bars.

You need to fight them for their inner versions to show up in the boss rushes I talked about above.

Bro you are offering a bunch of shite I didn’t ask for. I know about lightning reversal…that’s not what is getting me. I’m generally aware of the alternate endings and didn’t ask for that info
