I'm trying to use my 52" LG (1080p, 120Mhz) as the monitor for my computer. When using HDMI on my Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 on "1080p x 1920 x 1080 (native)", the screen is centered about an inch too far down and to the left. When I used the NVidia tools to adjust the screensize, it resets to 800 x 600.

With that said, the image is much clearer in 800 x 600 (when in the larger version, it seems a little fuzzy or something).

Driver version - 8.17.12.5896
Driver date - 7/9/2010

Thoughts?

Most TVs nowadays have a special "PC mode." Otherwise, even though you are outputting the proper resolution, the TV will not display it correctly. You should look through your manual to see if you have this option.

If you want something that "just works" in the meantime, your HDTV should display 1360x768 perfectly without changing settings. There might be some input lag though.

ETA: Your TV should have a "Just Scan" option in the picture menu under aspect ratio.

i do the same.

you need to use the PC source settings.

I have the Gyration Mouse and Keyboard to control it from my couch and a media center remote control. then use my ipod and the Remote app. I love the setup great for parties and watching ripped movies.

The NVidia Control Panel should have an option that allows you to readjust your desktop vertically and horizontally...I know I had to do the exact same thing on mine recently. Mine is just setup through the standard HDMI video mode, but I think my tv does have something for a PC...I should look into it, but I had heard about people having issues with the sound on the PC setting maybe? I don't know, but this just gives me an excuse to go tinker more.

Got it working, thanks for all the input folks!

Now, does anyone have any idea why my audio won't work? The integrated audio works fine, but I can't seem to get audio through my HDMI connection. Would this be an NVidia setting or a Windows setting?

I love connecting my laptop to my tv and using wireless keyboard and mouse. Doing work on 50 inch plasma somehow makes it better.

Doing the space battles in Star Trek Online feels like I am in a movie. If I could just get the sound pumping through my surround sound...

If I remember correctly, this requires a special SPDIF connection from your motherboard to the graphics card. Otherwise, you have to hook up sound separately from your audio outs on your motherboard or sound card.

Thanks, I'll dig around and see if I kept any of my mobo's documentation (no time to crack the case until after the weekend)

I believe the native resolution of most HDTVs is 1366x768 fwiw
