Idk if this is more for the tech board or for this board. I recently put a GTX 1050 Ti in my Dell Inspiron desktop. Now I’m looking to upgrade my cpu. It currently has an i3-7100 with 2 cores. I found an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 on sale.

I’m not sure what kind of motherboard or PSU the computer currently has. I’m just wondering if I can install that CPU without having to upgrade the motherboard and PSU. The CPU I’m looking at requires 15 Watts more than the current CPU and it comes with a cooling fan.

Im at work now so I can’t take a look inside the PC to find out what kind of PSU and Motherboard it currently has but if needed, I can definitely look when I get home.

Edit: nvm. I’d need a new mother board

You'll end up needing a new mobo and ram if you upgrade the CPU. Possibly a psu as well.

Yeah, more than likely you’ll need a new/bigger PSU as well.

Yeah I found an i5 7500 for $150 on eBay that I offered $140 for so I’m hoping that works out

This might be a long shot, but is anyone here looking to get a 7500 off their hands?

I don't think so honestly.

The 1050 Ti doesn't even have external power. It pulls all power from the Mobo. Meaning it won't exceed over 75W because that is the spec for Pci 3.0.

He won't need a new PSU.

Now for the important question, how's your LED setup going to look?

Not sure what I have in a dead (PSU) Dell but I'll check.
