Will be a day or 2 before I can give you feedback. I have a ton of shite to do today and packing for vacation tonight

Excuses excuses.
Kidding, I'm probably in, but the reviews are all over the place.

It's clear that they're trying to add layers but not too many. A nuanced arcade game so to speak.

can only tell you after an hour
first 40 minutes - eh, it's ok i'll get bored with this pretty soon though
last 20 minutes - laughing out loud I was having so much fun
there are some choices you won't like, and it's not as pick up and play as you'd like, but once you get it...it's a fricking blast.
there are still some general choices I don't like, but for $20...easy choice.
there are definitely skill levels. I imagine some people are going to be unbeatable at this game. I don't know how fun the online is going to be.

Got a good hour and a half in.
I do like it. But man is it frustrating. The timing on dunks, shots and blocks is wholly unforgiving.
The people who can do it consistently will dominate online. I have a hard time against the computer when they start hitting everything perfectly. And I have series of like 6 straight missed shots.
I like the shill, but it needs just a tad more forgiveness on the release. Blocks particularly as those are impossible to do.
Got Mullins and Drexler early and used them to beat the first tourney and got Nowitski (Legend) and D Robinson (Epic) in the same pack. I think I might stick with that pair. Little speed, but Rob's D plus Dirk's O is legit.
Although I think there may be better partners for Dirk just haven't found them yet.

Once you get it man is it sweet though. I think they didn't just want you mindlessly doing dunks and it getting boring. It's my best switch game that isn't mario kart or zelda. Tied with shovel knight
My main gripes...having to unlock the roster. Takes too long in exhibition to rack up xp but tournaments is faster. The sound...not arcade sound
Pros...spud fricking Webb

Spud Webb + Anthony Davis is a lethal combo

Spud Webb!!
Tell me there is also Mookie Blaylock?
I went back to Drexler. Dirk and The Glide. Pure Offense. Drexler is a beast except for blocking. But I get like 20 steals a game with those two.
But for real: Gilbert Arenas. That would be fantastic.

All in all this game is easily worth $20 and if you have it on the switch you should buy it
Not perfect
Not must own
But addictive

I love this game so far. Got an hour of playtime in it. I'm still figuring out layups when I want to dunk. I'm like 5/30 on layup attempts.
Penny Hardaway and Bill Walton is a GOAT pairing so far

I HATE to say it cuz I was having a blast with this game but after a few hours and figuring out the release timing on shooting, this game is too exploitable. The 3pt shot is just wayyyy overpowered. I can hit 3s with any player on the game. Sucks because when you feel like you just got really good at the game, the experience cheapens.

I've played this game for about 3 hours today and I know more than the guy at IGN who did the review on it
The deeper the shots, the longer you have to hold. Layups/finger rolls are impossible at first because you think you have to hold the shot longer but you don't. It's not uniform for every type of shot. Threes are extremely easy because if you look at the jump shot, it's at the apex of the release.
What they need to do is either slow down the 3pt animation just a hair or change where the timing is at.

The timing-based shooting mechanic is another element that does not quite fit this style of game. The intent is to add an element of skill that separates experienced players from the inexperienced by rewarding a perfect release with an extra point, but the animations just aren’t consistent or readable enough. There’s no way to really know if shot timing is tied to each shot or alley-oop animation, or if it’s the same across all of them, so even after playing for many hours I am no closer to deciphering the perfect timing that the AI can execute reliably.

It's easier to name players I don't have even though I'm level 22 with no online play
Wilt
Russell
Kemp
Iverson
Lebron
Curry
Iverson
Shaq
Clyde
Probably more I'm missing

At least in tournaments, this is the only way to win though. They steal and block everything, regardless of player, then they hit multiple 3's.
I do wonder about online on the Switch. I feel it's going to be a tough environment as the skill cap is high enough for there to be a big disparity in style.

I got iverson
Awesome
So I made it through all the tournaments on the back of Magic, I pulled him in my first gold pack. After that I pulled Dirk somewhere, and then Bill Russell and Westbrook toward the end....but that's it for legends.
After beating Iverson and Shaq I pulled my last gold pack.....
Iverson, Curry, and Big O. In one pack. I'll take it.

3s are way too easy. I've been cheesing online with teams of either steph- porzingis or steph-dell and just bombing threes from the half court circle

What kind of duos are you using? I used Walton/Harden combo to great success. Same with Penny/Walton. Guys with high dunk (Walton) don't get blocked much on dunks.
