I have no idea. Maybe he didn't want ras to stop the train and transport it another way to Wayne towers which they were right by. He made sure the train didn't stop.

I was playing AA yesterday, obviously it's a great game, but a few thoughts:
-Whats with the massive shortage of shoes and shirts among inmates?
-Why didn't Batman grab the triple batclaw the first time he was in the Batcave?

Exactly. There are a lot of moments like this in movies that you realize "if they had just opened that one door, this flick would have been like 10 minutes long". Just go with it

The joker taunting you throughout the game is such a cool effect...wonder if they'll try and do something similar in AC...

Batman wanted to have a back-up plan in place. If he couldn't stop Ra's before the train he needed someone he could trust destroy it as a last option. Im sure his first priority was to stop Ra's from getting to the train.
Hell, there are probably alot of variables in place. Why not have as many options as possible when trying to save the city?
