For those of you who habitually complain about the lack of improvements from year to year with the NCAA or Madden franchises, have any of you ever played these games?
KOEI seriously releases the exact same game every couple of years with identical graphics, the same characters (their appearances tweaked a bit), same weapons, same moves, same set of battles, same features.
And the worst part is, people eat this shite up and rush to buy the latest releases although the franchise peaked with Dynasty Warriors 3.
Fanboys are ridiculous.

I'm one of them...
I don't know why. I've been hooked since DW3. I buy all of them: Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi, Dynasty Tactics, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Kessen, Nobunaga's Ambition.
I am a glutton for games that release the same generic formula every year it seems.

I used to play all the dynasty warrior games. I stopped playing em after 5, but then all this talk about 6 made me jump back into it, but i was extremely disappointed. I still play ROTK 10, and i might look into the next one they release where you control individuals.
Overall, i hated the anime-ness of dynasty warriors, but it was the only game i found where you were actually an officer in a battle. I also liked the story of the era, though it must be heavily exaggerated. I downloaded Bladestorm (Medeval version of kessen) and decided to pass on that too.

I played 4 and liked it, but never saw a need to buy another Dynasty Warriors. Even if they changed the story there's very few changes they could make to the gameplay to make it worth another $60.

I thought the Empires games were a much needed break from the normal hack n' slash mold.
Plus the fact that you could create your own officer/army.
The biggest thing these games have always suffered from is horrendous English voice acting. I'd rather listen to the original voices with subtitles, but there's no option to do that.
The only reason I really find these games fun is because I'm a huge fan of Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

I always get the shitty techno music in these games stuck in my head.
Dynasty Warriors 3 actually had some great music, but the other games sound like DDR.

DW2 and 3 had some really great music. I always loved the music when I first met Lu Bu in DW3 and thinking...OH shite!
