re: TD 360 Dynasty - *Season 3|Week 12* - Advance 12/10 @ 10 PM

LOS ANGELES, CA - Many fans around the country are rife with excitement about this weekend's matchup of the #3 Notre Dame Figting Irish against the #5 USC Trojans in South Bend. A hotly contested battle for the past few years, the series between the teams two hot shot coaches, frost985 of the Irish, and DGolemi of the Trojans has not been without it's close games.

In 2008, the first year for both coaches, 985 brought his scrappy, unranked Irish into the bowels of a racuous Coliseum to match up with the #2, undefeated Trojans, and came out with a seven point loss. 985 was hailed around the country for the effort his team put forth, and longtime ESPN analyst, Lou "Bat Shite Crazy" Holtz mumbled on College Gameday that 985 was on his way to restoring Notre Dame to its former greatness. Sure enough, that was the only loss in a season that saw those Trojans win the BCS National Championship and Notre Dame go on to win its first BCS game.

Fast forward a year to the 2009 season, where this time coach Golemi brough his powerhouse Trojans into South Bend to match up this time against a ranked Notre Dame program with a chip on it's shoulder. Once again it was a close contest, but Notre Dame pulled off the victory. Coach 985 was quoted as saying,"This is a real turning point for our program. Hopefully we can get some national respect now. These guys played thier hearts out, and we're hopefully on our way to the National Championship." The chips didn't fall the Irish's way though, and even though the posted a perfect season, they were left out of the BCS National Championship Game. The Irish did however go on to win another BCS Bowl game that season.

Fast forward to 2010, and the closest game of series so far. USC, highly ranked, was hosting the Irish back in the Colesium, who had suffered some early season setbacks, but were regardless an excellent football team. USC was pinning its BCS National Championship hopes on winning this game and somehow slipping into the back door of the contest. Notre Dame, once again, was playing for respect. The game started out slowly, with Notre Dame taking the lead, but with USC soon fighting back with a score of its own. Back and forth the momentum swung, as the game entered the fourth quarter with Notre Dame holding a five point lead. After a few crucial defensive stops, USC was able to churn out a sustained drive that would eventually end in the game winning touchdown on a reception by the All-American tailback Joe McKnight. Final score USC 19 - Notre Dame 17. "This was the best win I've had here at USC. It was one that I think we earned moreso than any other game we've played since I've been here, including the BCS National Championship we won here three years ago. This win is possibly one of the most gratifying of my career," Coach Golemi opined. On the flipside, Coach 985 offered this: "It was a great, great football game. Hard fought. Is it disappointing to lose? Hell yes, but those boys played their hearts out tonight. If you have to lose a game, that's the kind of game you want to lose, where you know you left it all out on the field. This has been a series of home-field advantage. It's been hard to win at the other guys place. We'll pick up the pieces after the loss and truck on. There's still a lot more football to be played this season."

Here we are again, and this Saturday at 7:00 PM CST, we will have the 2011 edition of this intense rivalry? Who will win this time? "My money is on Notre Dame!," screamed Lou Holtz on the set of College Gameday, even though he wasn't asked. "They're gonna win it all this year!" Safe money is to take the home team, especially with USC's new juco transfer at QB having inconsistent streaks of late. He'll have to play lights out in order to beat this solid Notre Dame team. Here to the epic battle on Saturday.

On a related note, there have been rumblings that both coaches might be at different schools next year. Coach Golemi has repeatedly denied rumors of the Tennessee Volunteers making advances in order to court him to be their next head coach. Coach Golemi holds multiple degrees from fellow SEC school LSU, including an MBA and a JD, and has close ties to the Southeastern Conference from his playing days at LSU, to his coaching jobs as an assistant at LSU, then Quarterbacks coach for the Gators, until his stint as Offensive Coordinator for the Volunteers until he accepted the Head Coaching position with the Trojans. "I AM NOT going to be the head coach of the Volunteers!," coach Golemi steadfastly maintains.

Coach 985 is in a similar position. Insider sources have reported that 985 has interest in being the Head Coach of the LSU Tigers, if the turmiol surrounding their coaching staff continues to occur. The Tigers lost their head coach, Nino, to a vicious Llama attack at a petting zoo in Baton Rouge earlier in the year. He is expected to make a full recovery, but decided to retire from coaching in order to devote his full attention to being able to walk again. Soon after, his assistant that took over the interim Head Coach position, Tigerbooboo, was indicted on 47 counts of cruelty to animals, when a videotape emerged of him taunting Phil Fulmer with Krispy Kreme donuts at the 2007 SEC Championship game. Fulmer couldn't concentrate on his coaching duties on the sideline because Tigerbooboo attatched two dozen doughnuts to the ESPN zip cam above the field and Fulmer was chasing the camera the rest of the game. Now ex-Memphis and Oregon coach Guguch22 has been hired to step into the position to provide the Tigers with some quality coaching. You may remember Gugich22 from last season when he abruptly disappeared for a month in the middle of the Ducks' season, only to reappear thirty days later to say, "Hey Guys!," and be unceremoniusly fired. Time will tell if Gugich22 has the consistency to stay around this time or whether he will unexpectedly "fly the coop" again. 985 has also been linked to the Alabama, Texas Tech and Michigan coaching vacancies.

It will be fun to see how this all shakes out.

Well, a lot of it is attrition with people leaving for whatever reason and other people moving back. The only changes we've ever really had are when brpierce changed from Clemson to Fla State (which was justified since he took over clemson for PonchyPunk for like 2 games...he wanted a team of his own) and when Gugich and Cene changed from Memphis and Vandy to Oregon and West Virginia, respectively. We can all understand why they changed though, because they would have never had a chance in this league.

I'm just kinda bored with USC...I've been dominating the PAC 10 for the past 4 years now, and am like 46-4 overall. I'm contemplating a move just to have a change of scenery; I miss the SEC. Plus, the weakness of the PAC 10's schedule no doubt kept me out of the NC game last year.

I don't know if Art will move or not, but anyone is welcome to shift around in order to keep things fresh.
