Supply shortage aftermath discussion

Im one of many who are patiently waiting for the pc component shortage to find some sense of normalcy again.
Therefore I’ve been wondering, Should you be cautious about the “quality” of current gen parts during the past year (and forseeable future) for being rushed to keep up with market demand? Would quality control standards be kept consistent during a period like this?

Probably a good reason for people to stop constantly griping about it and let these manufacturers have the time to get back up to speed. Lots of places had to close down facilities because of all of this. Getting geared back up is no quick task.
Sure, there's always that risk, but it isn't just video game consoles and gaming machines that rely on these components. Too many people rely on these chips and other parts being right for them to half arse them out on to the market.

I would hope so but I've had my doubts about the durability of components released in the coming months. I'm now looking to do a mini Itx build with the 5700G APU when it releases retail

I wouldn't worry about OEM quality control. It's more important to them to keep their reputation than it is to sell a few more units.
With that said, I would be super fricking cagey about buying a used part for the foreseeable future. CPUs are probably ok, but GPUs and SSDs would be verboten for me unless I personally knew the seller.

Yeah definitely. I know there can be bargains buying second hand but I usually stay away due to the chance of being deceived/ scammed.

Hopefully manufactures think that way too or else the warranty claims will be a huge headache for all involved

While those are concerns, you can avoid that by making sure you see the device boot in a system. But that doesn't save you from getting a GPU that's spent the last year baking away mining Eth, or worse, an SSD that's been killing itself mining Chia.
