My son was playing it this morning. The graphics look better. I was kind of surprised by that.

There have been lots of reports of matchmaking hiccups, network disconnections, etc. Mrs. Vox and I have been focusing on the single player mode until it gets more reliable on the multiplayer.

Can't wait for the 3 team SplatFests.

My son, who is 8, has been playing a lot of the lego games and Minecraft Dungeons on switch. He saw a commercial about this game and sees the ads for it every time we boot up the switch and is begging me to get it for him. He's never played any kind of shooter. Is this simple enough for him to understand and have fun with? I have a love/hate relationship with shooters and not sure I want to expose him to that just yet

Splatoon is really easy to play, hard to master. Much like Super Smash Bros. And while it's a shooter - it does reduce a lot of the shooter problems. It can be mostly about covering ground with ink.

The primary game mode isn't to splat the opposing team, it's to ink as much turf in your color as you can, and cover up the other team's.

If you "kill" an opposing player in the process, then them's the breaks.
