Shatterline - A free to play FPS on Steam

it's like a "hero shooter" like Overwatch, but every hero has the same health limitations and hitboxes according to TheXclusiveAce.
TheXclusiveAce did a video on it, and it looks pretty optimized for a free to play game. it's on Steam for now but should come to consoles in February. with MW2 around the corner, i can't imagine some of you being interested in it, but it might be a nice change of scenery from time to time.

Is this the new Battalion? As in, it's going to get a bunch of hype for a week or two, and then the next week it will completely die to the point of not even being able to get a server started due to lack of player base?

Yeah it was supposed to be the hot new eSports game because it was essentially a cod 4 pro mod clone. Shroud and a bunch of other streamers were paid to promote it for a few days and as soon as they quit playing it everyone else did too. It was a pretty interesting rise and fall to watch.
ETA: it was launched as Battalion:1944 in 2018. Looks like they relaunched it as Battalion: Legacy last month, made it free to play and added a bunch of skins.

What a waste of money that game was. It was impossible to even get into servers when the game dropped and by the time you could get into servers easily, the game was dead

I dunno. Splitgate seemed to get a ton of hype and had no payoff. This thread is the first I've heard of this game.
Honestly, the pacing of gunfights feels good. It's not COD levels of stupid where you'll get destroyed by 2 body shots, but it's not Valorant where a single HS ends your career.
The different modes are pretty fun. The Escort/Cart Push mode is cool in a non-Overwatch game.
The different heroes all play well and have their niche. The biggest thing I appreciate is that support classes aren't boring. They're fun and can support both the team and tmselves to frag out.

i'm still playing this. it's weird how similar it is to CoD. it's more like Black Ops 3 and 4 in terms of how each "hero" has its own ability. i'm digging it.
also, i found out that the dev team is the middle of the ukraine conflict. smack dead in the middle of kyiv.

I typically don't like hero shooters,but I decided to give this a shot. Surprisingly, I'm really enjoying it. The movement and gunplay feels great.

This is exactly how I felt about it. I was honestly shocked at how fluid and fun both of those things felt, along with the unique abilities not feeling game-breaking.

I ended up playing about 4 hours last night. I want to point out that the Zenith assault rifle+Malva, or Orbit to a lesser extent, is a really strong combo. Malva's instant full health pack will definitely get nerfed at some point though. It's pretty OP.

Nope, no coop for me yet. Thought about doing a few the other night just to knock out some of the challenges but I haven't yet.

it lacks the comedy borderlands has, but i found it fun to play for a 20 minute session or so.

Played a few runs yesterday in Co-Op. It's pretty damn fun when you have a solid team that works together.
Feels very BR/Rogue-Like.

As a console gamer, i installed this on my sons PC today while I'm not as busy working..Slightly fun, good that its different from my normal rotations..

Played again this afternoon for about an hour and a half before we went to dinner. Unlocked the Bloodstream blueprint mod for the Drachen. It makes it an absolute lazer in CQB. Anything past 15 meters and it's still completely useless because the damage falls off so much. 
The one thing that this game is missing is a stats page, but the devs on the Shatterline subreddit said that they're going to add one pretty soon.
