I bought an ROG Ally, the Z1 Extreme not the X. I haven't played on a Steam Deck so I can't really say anything about that but I love my Ally. The battery life is shite but I have read that the X battery is better than the deck. It runs Steam from the Asus launcher as well as Xbox and Gamepass, Epic, GOG and others. The only issue I have run into is buying games from not Steam that aren't optimized to run handheld. If they are on Steam you can find the controller icon and scroll down to where it says verified steam deck and it will run on the Ally.

I have the z1e. I love it. Battery life sucks, but I knew that before I bought it. Configuring the built in gyro to toggle on/off with the auxiliary button allows for gyro aiming in fps games. Game changer over thumb stick only aiming.
