Question about Fortnite on switch, help please.

Have one Fortnite account on switch 1, tied to the Nintendo account eshop. Kids shared it for a while.
Now have a second Fortnite account for kid 2 that we’ve been accessing on my wife’s iPad. All good.
Until I had the bright idea to get a second switch so they would quit borrowing the iPad. I want a fresh install of Fortnite on switch 2 and be able to log into Fortnite account 2 independently of the accounts on switch 1.
With the way the eshop works, to download fortnite you have to log into the eshop but that is tied to the account info on switch 1.
I’m so confused. Do I need to make a second Nintendo account on the switch 2 just so both kids can play Fortnite together?

Thank you. Made some headway. It turns out that it matters how you log into the eshop. Had to make a child account, access the eshop with THAT login, and then you can do a fresh install.
Individual user profiles are somewhat irrelevant, it’s the login used to access the eshop that controls everything. That part wasn’t intuitive.
It makes more sense now that I’m on this side of it, but it sure would be nice to be able to manage all of this stuff from the one master account I was logged in under.
Maybe somebody else will see this one day and can benefit from the misery I just endured. Sometimes I really miss the plug and play nature of analog.

I agree with you. Multiple login situations like this are not intuitive on modern machines. Makes it difficult when you have multiples of the same console in the same house.
Setting up two xboxes on the same Gane Pass in the same house was tricky also.
