PT, Visage, and RE:7 re-invented horror games. Skinamarink just re-invented horror movies.

I just posted a knee-jerk review of Skinamarink on the Movie/TV Board. While watching the movie at the theater this evening, PT, Visage, and RE:7 (the first part at least) immediately came to mind.
I'm barely a casual gamer, but I'm obssessed with those game titles, and they seem to be a huge if unacknowledged influence on the movie. What is this board's thoughts on those particular games and the movie?

A playable demo on PSN around 2014-15 that you can’t download anymore. One of the scariest games I’ve played.
